Does someone need to be home during my appointment?
No. But that is your preference. We won’t need access to your home for gutter cleaning and pressure washing. We would just need the outside water turned on.
We may need access to your home for window cleaning. Many of our customers let our trusted employees into their home as they are going off to work and then ask our technicians to lock the door on the way out, much like a house cleaning service. We can usually handle all the details over the phone when we set the appointment.
Are your technician’s employees or subcontractors?

Our technicians are employees who drive company vehicles and work with company tools. This offers much more protection for homeowners than the subcontractor model often utilized.

We hire fully qualified individuals as our technicians and their passion for their job is a huge plus! Each technician is fully covered by our insurance and workers compensation and they are careful, courteous, and concerned about the condition of your home before, during, and after their service work. Our employees wear Clean and Clear clothing and drive company vehicles so they are easily identified as our experienced technicians.

Are you bonded and insured?

We are insured, carry workers compensation for all of our employees, and have vehicle insurance. If you would like a copy for your records, simply call or email us to request a copy of our policies.

How do we arrange payment?

We accept debit and credit cards, cash or a check. Payment can be made at the time of service or we can send you an invoice that can be paid online or by mail.

Do you have references I can check?

You can take a look at what our past customers have to say; click on testimonials tab at the top of the page. This is a brief sampling of hundreds of comments our customers have written about their service experience. Let us know if you need any more specific details from us.

Can I get an estimate for your services before you come to my home?

Yes! We have a variety of ways we put together estimates for your home including the use of Google maps (great for measuring gutter length for gutter guard installation) as well as in-person estimates for more complex projects. We can put together estimates from the outside of your home and you do not need to be present when we perform the estimate.

We will do a count of the windows in your home and note the types of windows you have. We will call or email you with the estimate. We clean chandeliers, mirrors, and other glass surfaces as well and can include those in your estimate if you would like.

How does weather (rain) affect my window cleaning appointment?

Clean and Clear is a year round service! We clean in the winter season as well as in the hot and humid summer season weather. A light rain will also not affect our technicians or your windows. Window spots don’t come from the rain on the windows, but rather a driving rain hitting a dirty screen. It is our year round service that lets us retain our qualified technicians so that we can keep the quality of your cleanings consistent.

In the case of heavy rain, we will ask to clean the inside of your windows first. Because it generally doesn’t rain all day, it will usually have stopped by the time we are ready to clean the exterior. If we are unable to finish the job due to the rain, we will make an effort to come back later the same day, or later that week. You won’t need to be home for us to finish the exterior window cleaning and we will send you an invoice if you are not present.

In addition, we do offer a 48 Hour Rain Guarantee. If it rains, and the exteriors of your windows are blemished by the rain, we will, at no charge to you, touch up the exterior of the windows. We just ask that you call within 48 hours of the original service date.

Should I do anything to prepare for my window cleaning appointment?

While it is not necessary for you to offer any assistance, it can help the process. Many of our customers prefer to help with the removal of window grids as well as moving small items such as plants or pictures away from window sills. Our team can move larger items such as couches or beds if need be. Our technicians can work around almost anything, though, should you be unable to help out.

What is the cost to have my windows cleaned by a professional from Clean and Clear?

Window cleaning prices typically start at $145. Factors include how long it has been since your previous professional window cleaning, how many windows you have, and the types of windows you would like us to clean. An “average” sized home will cost between $150-$350. Feel free to contact us as we would be glad to put together an estimate for you!

When should I clean my gutters, and how often?

We recommend cleaning your gutters twice per year. The first time should be in late spring once the seeds and blossoms have fallen from the trees. This is important to keep the gutters from clogging, as well as to keep seedlings from growing in your gutters! The second gutter cleaning should be in late fall when the leaves have fallen so your gutters are clear before winter comes.

How do you clean gutters and what do you do with any messes?

We will arrive at your home bringing with all the necessary equipment. We hand clean all gutters and make sure the downspouts are unclogged. If your gutters are particularly dirty, we will flush out your gutter system with water. All debris will be bagged and removed off-site when the cleaning is completed. While we clean, we also evaluate your gutter system and identify any problem areas in order to suggest corrective action if necessary.

What can I expect during the cleaning?

Our uniformed employees will arrive on time, in company lettered vehicles, fully prepared to help you with your cleaning project. We will review the details of the project with you, see if there are any areas that you would like to focus on specifically, and get your approval before starting the work. Once we are finished we will review the work we did for you and ensure you are fully satisfied.

If you have young children or you will be working from home, we can work around those rooms

How do you protect interior floors while working?

We remove our shoes prior to entering the home. For homes were it is necessary to bring ladders inside to reach pictures windows we lay down drop clothes to prevent any scratching of the floor and to keep the ladders from slipping.

How often should my windows be cleaned?

We suggest that it is best not to let your windows go longer than a year between cleanings to avoid any build-up of dirt that can lead to hard to remove stains. It is up to you, but we clean home windows monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, or annually depending on the preferences of our customers. Let us know how we can accommodate your window cleaning needs!

How do you clean my windows?

We have a three step process for all first-time window cleanings from Clean and Clear. For exterior windows we wet the glass, scrub the glass and then squeegee it dry. Scrubbing the glass removes any build-up of tree sap, mulch spores, bird droppings, etc., that have stuck to the glass. Most of our customers agree this third step helps their windows stay cleaner longer, and it leaves your windows looking extra clean.

Can you clean both the inside and the outside of my windows?

Cleaning both the interior and exterior of your window panes leaves you with the best results; however, we can clean both or just the side of your choosing. We train our technicians to work with safety and care when inside your home to ensure you furnishings, floors, and window treatments remain the way you left them.

How long does window washing take?

For most homes without storm windows it takes two to four hours to clean both the interior and exterior of the windows. When we anticipate a job to take longer, we send larger crews. If you have any concerns about the length of time we will be working on your home, please let us know when you schedule your appointment with us.

How are windows counted for an estimate?

We consider a pane as each individual section of glass so, a double hung window (one that slides up and down) would generally have 2 panes to it.

What areas do you service?

We service all of Minneapolis and St. Paul and approximately a 25 mile radius of those cities. Below is a partial list of areas we service:

  • Richfield

I live outside your serviceable are. Can I still request your services?

We travel outside of our normal serviceable area for commercial maintenance projects and larger residential projects. Please send us an inquiry and we will do our best to meet your needs.

Can you remove hard water or other stains from my windows? Are windows that are stained or have hard water spots more difficult (and expensive) to clean?

We can remove hard water or other stains, but it can take longer to clean these windows. The technician developing your estimate can tell you how cleaning those stains will change your estimate. There are harsh chemicals on the market that can remove window stains quickly, but there is a greater risk of further damaging the windows with these cleaners. Instead of going directly to harsh chemicals, we start with a light cleaner. We have had great results with both residential and commercial hard water/stain removal with this method.

What types of cleaning products do you use?

All of our products are home-safe and biodegradable. We do not use any ammonia or alcohol-based solutions that could affect fabrics or flooring. If you are interested in knowing more about our products, please reach out for a full listing of products used by sending us an email.

Do you offer group pricing discounts?

We offer neighborhood and group discounts if we are able to coordinate for the same service day. If you are able to schedule your appointment for the same day(s) as your neighbors, we will offer 10% off for each home.

Will there be any mess to clean up after you clean my windows?

We will not leave any mess behind, and you’ll only be able to tell we were there by your clean windows!
